Thursday's Ride!!

Today I rode bareback for about 45 minutes to an hour. I also took some pictures yesterday and today and I am hoping to edit them sometime soon. Maybe today. I was quite busy otherwise though. We are redoing our living room (needs it bad) and we painted the trim and ceiling today. Also fixed some of the plaster. HOPEFULLY tomorrow we will wallpaper it then shampoo it on Fri/Sat. That is the plan anyway. But tomorrow my mom and I are going to go to my grandma's to clean first thing in the morning though. Oh and once the living room is done I will send before and after pics.

Anyway about the ride! I headed down the strip. At first Navajo acted as though he wanted to balk but I didn't let him. So we got to the top of the strip and I asked for a trot. Off he went. It was a pleasant surprise because he usually doesn't trot down the strip. This time we went the whole way down at a trot. I turned the corner and then trotted to the edge of the field turned around and trotted part of the way back home. But turned around, and trotted (amazingly..usually he balks) and turned the corner to go back to the edge of the field. Then at the edge of the field I gave him the cue to stop. He did. That was pretty cool as well. I got him to move his hindquarters a few times as well. We are getting better at that. We were down there for a while but today we did a lot of trotting and pretty much cantering as well. What I did a lot this time was I would trot along the bottom part of the field then turn the corner as though I was heading home and then trot back around the corner out toward the edge of the field again. Navajo did so well and I had SO MUCH FUN cantering.

Finally I cantered him toward home (the whole way pretty well) then turned him around again. He kept balking but eventually I got him to go again then EVEN TROTTED HIM OUT TOWARD THE CORNER. I was so happy. I had a smile on the whole way home (we walked). Then I got off and loved on him and groomed him.
p.s. I hope this made sense!
