Here I have an overview of what I have taught/retaught Navajo this summer. First I retaught him to neck rein and to move away from leg pressure. Using groundwork I got him to be a more confident backer (to back up). I also taught him to lunge. Another thing was I got him to stand still for me when we are on the trail. Doesn't matter where we are I say whoa his feet stop (for the most part) but it definitely is better than at first:) So I have accomplished some of my goals and now I am setting new ones. I never dreamed we would get this far so quickly but I am proud of how far he has come.
New Goals: Get him to sidepass. Learn basic dressege (if anyone has any ideas or a website you can point me to would be great). Get better at lungeing him. Be a more confident rider (that one is for me). Teach him to have more respect. Maybe ride bridless eventually but that is farther in the future because we have a lot of work to do before then.
These are some of the goals that I have as of now, I can't think of more right now. I might add some later. But I feel they are good goals and we will eventually reach them if we both work hard, have patience, and that I don't get frustrated as soon as he don't get it. So I am not going into this expecting him to know exactly what I want right away but I am expecting him to try to figure it out and he be patient with all our trys. Well that is all for now.
