Sunday's Ride!

I did get to ride after all:) I was not sure if I would or not as I had my cousins here and my cousin wanted to ride:) So since I had a very very dirty horse we had our work cut out for us..We groomed him and then I got on him and took him down the strip..I walked the whole way down till I got to the corner..Then I asked for a trot..I asked him to go faster and he let out a buck..Funny horse. Never did that before that I can remember. He has been in since Wednesday of last week:(

So I rode for a bit and did a lot of trotting along the bottom part of the field. Then he galloped back...THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!! Have not done that in a while. Then since we were almost back he wanted to run back to the barn..Well we did circles. Then I asked for him to move his hindquarters and HE MOVED THEM..BOTH SIDES...It took a bit for him to do so but he did it and I was really happy.

Then we went back and put the saddle on so my cousin could ride..Well first I persuaded her to ride bareback..she had fallen off one time when bareback and never got on since then. I told her she wouldn't regret it if she got on..She got on and she was glad she did..Then we went and got the saddle:)Now with the saddle on she could ride..hehe...So I took her down the strip..I was walking beside her and Navajo. We went down the strip the whole way to the corner, turned the corner and then we trotted..We trotted a couple of times then walked back:) We took the saddle off and groomed him then turned him out..Over all it turned out better and more fun than I expected. Sunday's Ride in the Snow!

Yesterday I did get to ride in the snow!! IT WAS SO MUCH FUN...Mom and Rachel and Rose Mary all were going to go out and sled (mom was the photographer) So I was like I am going to ride..We did ride and we had fun at it too:):):) We rode all over the place..It was a fun ride no work..Today I won't be riding as I have so much horse work to do since we have so much snow:D Such as muck out Navajo's stall..it is clean inside but now I need to get rid of all the straw that was on the floor:D Everyone have a great week..I don't know how much I will be updating this blog or the other one this week...We will see how it goes..Thanks and have a great and Merry Christmas!

Friday's Work Session!

Today I did work with Navajo..I was hoping to ride even though I was a little hesitant:D:D But the ground was pretty hard..We are supposedly supposed to get tons of snow soon!!! Anyway, I did get on Navajo and he didn't walk off like at one point he might have:D HE just stood there..I was really happy..So I told him to walk forward a bit and he did.

Then I got off and got him to move his hindquarters and forequarters a little bit. Then I got him to lift (shake a hoof) when I tapped my crop against his leg..I usually used my hand but I want to see if I can get him to lift his hoof with as little contact as possible:) He picked up on that really quickly:)

Then I decided that I want him to walk beside me without my hands on the reins (I had his bridle on the whole time) and he did pretty good..we have to work at him turning with me but other than that he did really good...I am so happy at how far we have come!! He is such a gentle soul. He is one of the many good things that God has blessed me with this past year!!

Christmas is an awesome time..It is a time to remember Jesus's birth, to be with family and Friends and remember all the little things in life that God has given us!! And that includes our horses!! :D Everyone have a very Wonderful and blessed Merry Christmas!!!

Today's Ride!!!

I did get to ride today:):) I am so happy...Navajo was a little hesitant at first and acted like he wasn't going to go but he did go...I walked pretty well the whole way down the strip..THen when we turned the corner I asked for a trot but I pulled back on the reins a bit to ask for a slower trot...and he listened..we worked on that for a bit! Then we trotted some of the way home and cantered the rest..We got to where the garden is (which is a ways still from teh barn) and I got him to stop:) Then I decided to see if all the work I did with him moving his hindquarters and forequarters would pay off. SO I asked him to move his hindquarters to the right..AND HE DID IT!!!! Then I was like..Ok you know how to do that maybe you know how to move the other side..and he did that side too!!! Then I was like ok so you did the hindquarters which he had never done before I was like then maybe you can do the forquarters too! AND HE DID>>BOTH SIDES!! I WAS SO HAPPY AND PROUD...So I got off of him and praised him and gave him a big hug...Then I walked beside him on the way back to the barn with him following me:) I had a wonderful ride and I feel so proud of Navajo..Have a wonderful rest of the week and wonderful MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Yesterday's Ride

Yesterday I did get to ride..NOt to long because I had other things I needed to since it was Tuesday:D Anyway..he did get his hooves trimmed on Monday and he did awesome for the farrier..Then yesterday I wanted to ride him.

He listened very well..He went when I asked and did as I asked..The last couple times I had ridden him he didn't want to listen very well and I am thinking it was because his hooves were growing long:D:D SO now that his hooves are trimmed he is happier..and I am glad.

Well we rode down the strip and I asked for a trot and he did trot but kept wanting to go sideways..so I asked for a walk and then again for a trot..then he trotted straight:D:D BUt I am happy...We rode a bit in the field to check out the big round bales (he knew something was different in the field:D) and so we went out and he sniffed them..then we walked around a bit:)

Since I wanted to groom him and also work with him a bit once we got back we headed back.

He tried to run off with me on the way back but I got him stopped..I was not happy with him..So I made him back up and move his hind and forequarters:):) HE did awesome..I also got him to shake a leg:D HE did good with that too. Then I got him to walk beside me to go back to the barn..He does good most of the time but some days he can be a challenge:D Everyone have a great day!

Friday Nights Youth Activity:)

Well I think most of you guys knew that I had a youth activity Friday Night...Anyway I left here around 3:30 p.m..got to my friend Lori's house around 4:10. We were going to meet the rest of the people we were going to go out to york with at sheetz. We arrived at sheetz around 4:40 and the rest of the people came around 5. So then Lori Me and her oldest sister Louanne sat in the front bench seat and the rest of the load was guys:D:D We headed out to York...Which is about an hour and a quarter away from us..It took us that long to get there with Friday rush our traffic:)

Well we arrived at Ebenezer Mennonite Bible School at 6:15. Then we went inside and stood around till they called for supper. I am running around with the Muddy Creek Hope Youth and this was all the hope churches youth..so a lot of the people didn't know each other..We were out in york to chrismas carol..So we ate supper which was taco soup and salad..Once everyone was done eating we split up into the different singing groups (Soprano, Alto, Tener, Bass) and then numbered off one to four. I was in group one..Then they elected song leaders:D We then got 6 plates of cookies and 6 tracts for each group..then we walked to our section that we were going to sing at;):) We sang at a record of two houses..we stopped at more than that but only two people were home:D IT was so much fun but SO COLD:):)

We got back to the bibles school around 8 so it took us an hour or so to walk around and sing:):) We then hung out for a while there and met some new people..I met a girl Lisa Martin and I hope to do some stuff with her sometime:):) They then had some refreshments (hot chocolate and cookies) and we talked till around 9:30...then we started a game of round town..which is when you play pingpong with more than one person and when you make three mistakes someone has to call your out...We left soon after everyone was almost out..So we left around 10 and we got home at 11..I slept at my friend Lori's house..we talked till 12 and then got up around 8 this morning:) Overall it was a great evening and I am looking forward to going to Youth Activities:)

Wednesday's Ride!

This morning it is quite cold..well it is windy and that doesn't help any:D Anyway I went out and got navajo..I did want to groom him but the mud on him was wet so it would have smeared:D So I just groomed him best I could and hopped on..I took him out in the big back yard and got him to trot and canter a little to warm up..He kept wanting to canter so I decided to take him down the strip.

Down the strip we went:) He kept hopping sideways..very annoying but I did stay on. I asked for a trot and he went into the field..I was like ok..you want to keep trotting sideways instead of a straight line we will canter..And canter we did:)

He did pretty good considering he didn't want to go in the field the other day with me on him. He stopped and I got him to go the other way. Then I took him back on the grass and told him to trot back..and he didn't even try to rush into a canter or anything..I was so happy with him..Then we got back and I told him to flex and then I got off and asked for him to back up..I also got him to shake a leg (he remembered)..I was happy! Overall it was a great ride...I got him to walk beside me to the barn..he didn't even rush ahead..Today was a great day!! SO cold but great day:)

Tuesday's Work Session!

This morning I was going to groom Navajo but he was wet with mud:D So I took him down the strip..and i clucked for a trot..He needed some persuasion to go into the trot but he did trot...then I got him to walk again..Then I took him in the field..I asked for a trot which he gave:) We did that and then I asked him to stop..I got him to move his hindquarters and forquarters both ways..he did excellant:) THen I got him to trot a bit more..HE did great the whole time. I will see if we ride tomorrow or not:)
It is very cold here..SO my work sessions with him or short but he is getting better and better at moving his body around when I ask...I am so happy with how far we have come..everyone have a great day!

Sunday's Ride!

I got to ride today..AND HE LISTENED:) I went out and put his bridle on..Then I hopped aboard :D I took him out front and went the way that I took him on Friday and he went forward..and he walked at a nice pace:):) We walked down the strip then I asked for a trot..He listened after I asked him a few times..Then we trotted..I have gotten better at posting without a saddle! Then I took him in the field he was acting a bit weird but I got him to relax and stand still and then took him out on the grass again..We trotted the whole time..Then on the way back I asked for a canter and he did good..then I asked him to stop so he wouldn't run back to the barn..I backed him up a good ways...He tried to turn around but I always blocked him:D He tried to run back to the barn once I got him to go forward again but i just got him to go in circles..then I got off and got him to back a bit..Then I started going forward on the ground at a jog and he trotted after me:) So proud of him:):) Tomorrow I will work again on the groundwork and do some grooming too:) Have a great rest of the week!

Ok..so I had a birthday party last night:):) IT WAS AWESOME...I got to hang out with my favorite cousins and my friends I haven't seen in a LONG time! We waited till everyone got there and then started a game of v-ball...We played 3 games...switched teams..played another 3 and then switched again..Then we did the pinata and ate:) Then we did my gifts..I got some really nice stuff....2 Willow tree things...One was an angel holding a rose and the other was a little girl and a horse (from my cousin tonya) IT WAS SO CUTE...two picture frames..some bathroom stuff...scrapbooking things...some more horse stuff from my friend Lori..oh and the cutes little wooden box with running horses on..so cute..and money...I was happy with everything.

Then we played another game of volleyball...then I got my mom to take some pictures of my friends and I...I knew I would want pictures:) Sorry the ligthing wasn't the greatest but it was in a shop and with the flash it just made it worse..I am just happy for the pictures..Then after pictures I went around and talked to the people and thanked them for coming..then slowly they left:) Over all I had an awesome birthday:)
