A Peaceful Ride

All day today I was looking forward to riding Daisy. I knew this evening would be chilly but I just wanted to ride. After supper, I headed to the horses. I brought Daisy in and groomed her. I saddled her up and put the reflectors on, and off we went. I didn't ride far but I worked her at a trot some, as well as a canter. I was very pleased with how she nicely cantered along on a nice loose rein. And each time I asked her to slow down or stop, she listened right away. When we walked, Daisy didn't push to go faster once I told her that when I set the speed, that is the speed I expect out of her. On the way back, we trotted a little. I wasn't sure how she would do, but she trotted on a loose rein and when I asked for her to transition down to a trot, she did right away. We walked the rest of the way back. I was really pleased with how my ride went. I feel like we have come a long way from when I first started her in the bit. I would like to dedicate some time in the next few months to teaching her to side pass. We shall see how that goes!

I didn't do anything with Freedom this evening but maybe tomorrow evening I will get to groom her and work him a bit. Friday Sarah comes and then Saturday, Lord Willing, I am going to the Harrisburg Horse World Expo. Really looking forward to that! :)
